A Bel­mont pen­sion­er who walked out of the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal (POS­GH) dur­ing the ear­ly hours of Wednes­day morn­ing, died min­utes af­ter leav­ing the fa­cil­i­ty.

Car­o­line Haynes, 60, of Gon­za­les Road, Bel­mont, was found ly­ing along Pic­cadil­ly Street, in the vicin­i­ty of the bridge around 2:30 am to­day (Jan­u­ary 25).

Res­i­dents in the area alert­ed of­fi­cers at the Dun­can Street Po­lice Post to the woman’s pres­ence.

Of­fi­cers rushed the woman to the Port of Spain hos­pi­tal, where she was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Med­ical per­son­nel said Haynes had ar­rived at the POS­GH some time be­fore, com­plain­ing of feel­ing un­well, but left af­ter in­sist­ing that she want­ed to go to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve Haynes col­lapsed while walk­ing down Pic­cadil­ly Street.

Her body bore no marks of vi­o­lence.
