A 27-year-old housewife escaped injury on Monday, after she fought back as armed bandits tried to rob her on the compound of a grocery in South Oropouche.
The woman was with two men, ages 23 and 28, standing in the car park of Anand Low Price Supermarket at 7.20 pm, when a white Nissan Wingroad stopped on the road a short distance away from them.
Two masked occupants came out and approached them and one of the suspects pointed a gun at them and demanded, “Give me wha allyuh have.”
The gunman snatched one of the men’s gold chains valued at $16,000 from his neck.
When the suspect attempted to grab the woman’s gold chain, she resisted and they struggled. The suspect fired his gun but the bullet shattered the rear tailgate glass of a vehicle belonging to one of the victims.
The suspects then ran back to the vehicle and drove off.
Investigations are continuing.
