A 20-year-old woman is being treated at the Sangre Grande Hospital, after she was doused with muriatic acid in an attack in Rio Claro on Monday.
Police said around 3.55 pm, the woman was standing near Scotiabank in Rio Claro when a man wearing a green CEPEP top approached her. He threw a liquid onto her face, causing intense burning to her eyes, face, and lips. She ran from the scene and was assisted by a passerby, who took her to a nearby health facility. The Ecclesville, Rio Claro resident was then transferred to hospital for further treatment.
Police recovered a bottle containing muriatic acid near the bank.
Investigations are ongoing.
