Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in East Port-of-Spain where a woman was wound­ed.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at 7.30 pm on Thurs­day of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Task Force re­spond­ed to a re­port of shoot­ing in progress at Harpe Place. 

The of­fi­cers sub­se­quent­ly went the to Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where they met a man from Moun­tain View Road in Mara­cas, St Joseph who told them that at about 7.05 pm he was parked on Ob­ser­va­to­ry Street in vicin­i­ty of Harpe Place when he heard sev­er­al gun­shots.

He said when he looked for his com­mon-law wife, a 39-year-old woman from Harpe Place, who was seat­ed in the front seat of his ve­hi­cle he found her bleed­ing from gun­shot wounds.

Po­lice said the woman is cur­rent­ly ward­ed at hos­pi­tal.
