The Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has is­sued Ad­verse Weath­er Alert #2 – Yel­low Lev­el for the en­tire coun­try.

The warn­ing is in ef­fect from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm to­day.

Con­di­tions are cur­rent­ly cloudy but sta­ble over land, while thun­der­storms are ac­tive in off­shore ma­rine ar­eas to the east and south.

Fore­cast­ers say there is a 70 per cent chance that thun­der­storm ac­tiv­i­ty will move in­land as the day pro­gress­es, in­flu­enced by the In­ter-Trop­i­cal Con­ver­gence Zone and favourable up­per-lev­el con­di­tions.

Au­thor­i­ties have warned that street and flash flood­ing risks are el­e­vat­ed due to high at­mos­pher­ic mois­ture. Ad­di­tion­al rain­fall on al­ready sat­u­rat­ed soils could trig­ger land­slides or land­slips in hill­side ar­eas.

Gusty winds are al­so pos­si­ble near heavy show­ers or thun­der­storms.

Mo­torists and res­i­dents in ar­eas prone to flood­ing or land­slides are ad­vised to re­main alert and ex­er­cise cau­tion. Ma­rine in­ter­ests should al­so take pre­cau­tions and mon­i­tor of­fi­cial weath­er up­dates at www.metof­fice.gov.tt
