The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued Adverse Weather Alert #2 – Yellow Level for the entire country.
The warning is in effect from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm today.
Conditions are currently cloudy but stable over land, while thunderstorms are active in offshore marine areas to the east and south.
Forecasters say there is a 70 per cent chance that thunderstorm activity will move inland as the day progresses, influenced by the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone and favourable upper-level conditions.
Authorities have warned that street and flash flooding risks are elevated due to high atmospheric moisture. Additional rainfall on already saturated soils could trigger landslides or landslips in hillside areas.
Gusty winds are also possible near heavy showers or thunderstorms.
Motorists and residents in areas prone to flooding or landslides are advised to remain alert and exercise caution. Marine interests should also take precautions and monitor official weather updates at www.metoffice.gov.tt
