“En­large the place of your tent … do not spare; length­en your cords, and strength­en your stakes.” (Isa­iah 54:2, NKJV)

There are mo­ments in life when God does not whis­per com­fort, He is­sues a com­mand. This is one of them. It is not a sug­ges­tion to con­sid­er ex­pan­sion; it is an in­struc­tion to pre­pare for it. Ex­pan­sion is not com­ing, it is al­ready knock­ing. The ques­tion is not whether there is more for you, but whether you are ready to re­ceive it.

Too many lead­ers, too many fa­thers, too many hus­bands, too many young peo­ple, are liv­ing in spaces they have al­ready out­grown. The tragedy is not lack of op­por­tu­ni­ty, it is lack of vi­sion. You have been sit­ting in a small tent with a large call­ing.

You have ac­cept­ed lim­i­ta­tions that God nev­er au­tho­rised.

This word is a call to break out.

To those in pub­lic ser­vice, politi­cians, de­ci­sion-mak­ers, na­tion­al in­flu­encers, you were not placed where you are to main­tain medi­oc­rity. You were po­si­tioned for im­pact. En­large your think­ing be­yond sur­vival pol­i­tics and short-term gain. Stretch in­to lega­cy, trans­for­ma­tion and na­tion-build­ing. Refuse to gov­ern from fear or in­se­cu­ri­ty. The tent of your lead­er­ship must ex­pand to in­clude in­tegri­ty, courage and peo­ple-cen­tred vi­sion. Do not shrink to fit pres­sure, ex­pand to meet pur­pose.

To lead­ers in the cor­po­rate and pri­vate sec­tors, your in­flu­ence goes be­yond prof­it mar­gins and quar­ter­ly re­ports. En­large your tent to in­clude men­tor­ship, eth­i­cal lead­er­ship and gen­er­a­tional im­pact.

Stretch your ca­pac­i­ty to lead peo­ple, not just man­age sys­tems. There is more in you than tar­gets and trans­ac­tions. There is in­no­va­tion, strat­e­gy and trans­for­ma­tion wait­ing to be un­leashed, but it re­quires courage to step be­yond what is fa­mil­iar.

To church lead­ers, this is not the sea­son to re­main con­fined with­in walls or tra­di­tions that lim­it the move of God. En­large the tent. Stretch your reach. Ex­pand your com­pas­sion. Strength­en your spir­i­tu­al stakes so that when growth comes, it is sus­tained. The Holy Spir­it is say­ing “yes”... yes to new ter­ri­to­ry, yes to deep­er im­pact, yes to souls that re­quire more than rou­tine re­li­gion. Do not fear growth; pre­pare for it.

To fa­thers and hus­bands, your fam­i­ly is your first tent. En­large it. Ex­pand your love, your pa­tience, your pres­ence.

Stretch be­yond the pres­sures of pro­vi­sion alone and step in­to emo­tion­al and spir­i­tu­al lead­er­ship. Your chil­dren are watch­ing. Your wife is de­pend­ing on you. Strength­en the stakes of your home so that when storms come, your fam­i­ly stands se­cure. You are not called to be dis­tant; you are called to be foun­da­tion­al.

To mar­riages and re­la­tion­ships, stop con­fin­ing each oth­er with­in past hurts, in­se­cu­ri­ties and lim­i­ta­tions. En­large the space of grace. Stretch in­to for­give­ness. Strength­en the stakes of com­mit­ment. Growth re­quires room and love must be al­lowed to ex­pand. Do not tear each oth­er down in the process of build­ing; true ex­pan­sion nev­er comes at the ex­pense of an­oth­er. It comes through mu­tu­al up­lift­ment.

To young adults, this is your mo­ment to be bold. Stop lis­ten­ing to the voice that says you are not enough. That voice is a lie. It tells you that you don’t be­long, that you don’t have the ca­pac­i­ty, that you should stay small and safe. But the Spir­it of God is say­ing some­thing dif­fer­ent: “Go for­ward. Stretch. Step out.”

You are not called to live a re­duced ver­sion of your po­ten­tial. You are called to ex­pand in­to it.

Do not let op­por­tu­ni­ties pass you by be­cause you failed to see your­self in them. Too of­ten, doors open but we dis­qual­i­fy our­selves be­fore even try­ing. We say, “I’m not ready,” “I’m not qual­i­fied,” “That’s not for some­one like me.” But en­large­ment re­quires faith. It re­quires you to step in­to spaces that feel big­ger than you, be­cause they are meant to grow you.

Length­en your cords.

That means ex­tend your reach. Build new re­la­tion­ships. Learn new skills. Take on new chal­lenges. Go fur­ther than you have ever gone be­fore. Refuse to stay con­fined by com­fort zones. Growth does not hap­pen where it is safe, it hap­pens where it is stretched.

Strength­en your stakes.

That means deep­en your foun­da­tion. Strength­en your char­ac­ter, your dis­ci­pline, your faith. Ex­pan­sion with­out sta­bil­i­ty leads to col­lapse. As God in­creas­es your ter­ri­to­ry, you must en­sure that your in­tegri­ty can sus­tain it. Your spir­i­tu­al life, your val­ues, your prin­ci­ples, these are the stakes that will hold your en­larged tent in place.

Hear this clear­ly, do not en­large at the ex­pense of oth­ers. Do not ex­pand by cut­ting peo­ple down, ma­nip­u­lat­ing, or ex­ploit­ing.

True great­ness is not built on the bro­ken­ness of oth­ers. It is built by lift­ing oth­ers as you rise. Peo­ple-cen­tred lead­er­ship is not weak­ness, it is strength.

It is the kind of lead­er­ship that en­dures.

You are out­grow­ing your present space.

That dis­com­fort you feel is not fail­ure, it is a sign of ex­pan­sion. That rest­less­ness is not con­fu­sion, it is a sig­nal that more is re­quired of you. Do not ig­nore it. Do not sup­press it. Re­spond to it.

Get up.

Stretch your­self.

Push be­yond the lim­its you have ac­cept­ed.

You can do this, not by your strength alone, but by the strength of God with­in you. The Holy Spir­it is not say­ing “maybe.” He is say­ing “yes”... yes to your growth, yes to your ex­pan­sion, yes to your fu­ture.

Pre­pare for the larg­er tent.
