Goal shoot An­ish­ka Bernard and Bri­an­na Su­perville helped their team Ari­ma Unit­ed de­feat Bermudez Unit­ed 15-12 in the Un­der-16 Di­vi­sion Open­ing Day Knock­out Tour­na­ment of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Tacarigua on Sat­ur­day.

Bernard scored six of 11 at­tempts on goal and Su­perville con­nect­ed on nine of 15 in the goal-at­tack po­si­tion. For Bermudez Unit­ed goal-at­tack Keleli­cia George missed just two of 14 at­tempts, while Karis­sa Grant missed her two chances at the goal. Af­ter the first quar­ter end­ed with the team even­ly matched at 5-5, Ari­ma pulled away to lead 8-7 at half-time, then 11-10 af­ter three ses­sions of play be­fore record­ing an ex­cit­ing three-goal vic­to­ry.

Five teams par­tic­i­pat­ed in the one-day event - Jabloteh, SNA, Tu­na­puna Sec Bermudez and Ari­ma Unit­ed. The team play­ers four quar­ters of sev­en min­utes each.
