Defence Force captured the Men’s Open Division title in the annual Queen’s Park Cricket Club Hockey Carnival ‘Summer 7’s’, hosted by the QPCC Hockey Club with a 2-1 win over Malvern at the Queen’s Park Oval, Tragarete on Saturday.
In a tightly contested encounter, Defence Force got field goals from Shaquille Daniel, and Dylan Francis to cancel out Shawn Phillip’s lone item for Malvern.
Earlier on in the semifinals, Defence Force crushed Queen’s Park ‘B’ 5-0 led by two goals apiece from Shaquille Daniel and Dylan Francis, with Marcus James also on target while Malvern edged Queen’s Park ‘A’ 1-0 with Teague Marcano scoring the lone item for the winners.
The Parkites were the most dominant club on the day as they won four of the seven divisional crowns on offer, the Under-16 Boys, Under-19 Boys, Veterans Over-35, and Masters Over-45 competitions.
In the two other categories, InSport Academy secured the Under-16 Girls title, while Pinky Princesses lifted the Mixed Open crown.
