The pair of Make­da Bain and Lee-Anne Thorn­ton ad­vanced to the Women’s Dou­bles fi­nal of the Sun­shine Snacks Tran­quil­li­ty Open at the Tran­quil­li­ty Ten­nis Courts on Vic­to­ria Av­enue. They are set to face the moth­er-daugh­ter duo of mul­ti­ple-times na­tion­al cham­pi­on Shenelle Mo­hammed and Lil­ly Mo­hammed.

Both teams were sim­i­lar in their mar­gin of vic­to­ry in Fri­day’s semi­fi­nal con­tests. Play­ing on court two, the Bain/Thorn­ton com­bi­na­tion swept aside the team of fourth-seed Joan­na Brown and Madi­son Khan in straight sets. First, the Bain/Thorn­ton team raced to a 6-2 tri­umph that placed them with one foot in­to the fi­nal. And in the sec­ond set, they wast­ed lit­tle time in con­firm­ing their place by de­feat­ing Brown and Khan 6-3.

In the oth­er semi­fi­nal, Shenelle Mo­hammed used her ex­pe­ri­ence to pull her equal­ly tal­ent­ed daugh­ter past the team of Sarah Claver­ie and Sav­it­ree Singh in the first set 6-1. Lat­er, in the sec­ond set, there ap­peared to be lit­tle to no re­sis­tance from Claver­ie and Singh, al­low­ing the Mo­hammeds to pre­vail by a sim­i­lar 6-1 mar­gin to book their spot for the ti­tle match.

Lat­er, Bain made a push for a dou­ble ti­tle in the dou­bles when she teamed up with Vaughn Wil­son to pull off an al­most flaw­less 6-0, 6-2 vic­to­ry over the hus­band-and-wife pair of An­drew and Lee-Anne Thorn­ton in the semi­fi­nals of the Mixed Dou­bles on court 1.

On court two, sec­ond-seed Akiel Duke and Sav­it­ree Singh took three sets be­fore get­ting the bet­ter of Ask­ia Richards and third-seed­ed Far­rah Chau­ti­lal in the oth­er semi­fi­nals 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.

Mean­while, ac­tion in the men’s and women’s sin­gles serves off to­day, with Neil Lin­go fac­ing Adri­an Ja­cob; Ross Hack­shaw ver­sus Jack Brown; Co­by James up against Richard McLetchie; Jay­den Mitchell com­ing up against Ste­fon Ram­s­ingh; and Josi­ah Hills ver­sus An­dre Craw­ford. De­fend­ing men’s cham­pi­on Vaughn Wil­son will be on a bye in the first turn this morn­ing.

Among the women’s sin­gles, Charis Sali­na will take on Keyah Roberts; Lau­ra Li Mil­lard comes up against Sarah Claver­ie; Cyra Ram­cha­ran will face her sis­ter Suri Ram­cha­ran; Madi­son Khan will face Nao­mi Mo­hammed, and Make­da Bain will have a date with Far­rah Chau­ti­lal.
