Tobagonian Makeda Bain won all three of her finals contested when the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament ended at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua Thursday.
The winner of the Girls’ 14 and Under singles crown on Wednesday via her 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Cherdine Sylvester, Bain added the 16 and Under singles thanks to a comprehensive 6-2, 6-1 whipping of Madison Khan in the final before both finalist combined to beat Ramcharan sisters, Cyra and Suri, 6-2, 6-2 in the Senior Girls’ Doubles final.
Khad had earlier claimed the Girls’ 18 and Under singles title with a straightforward 6-2, 6-1 spanking of Lauri-Li Maillard in their final.
Josiah Hills and Christopher Khan both started the day in the same position as Bain, but in the end had to settle for two titles each.
This was after the second-ranked Khan defeated top-seeded Hills 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 in the Boys’ 16 and Under decider before Hills took revenge in their 18 and Under singles title-clash and won 6-3, 6-4 after which the duo combined to stop Jack Brown and Jacob Jacelon 7-5, 6-2 in the Senior Boys’ Doubles final.
In the Boys’ 14 and Under championship match, the unranked local Novak Malcolm completed his stunning run with a 6-0, 7-6(4) victory over top-ranked Denney Estava of St Lucia, his third win on the trot over a seeded player.
Malcolm was also a double winner on the day as he paired with Gabriel Mansoon to lift the Boys’ 14 and Under Doubles final thanks to their defeat of countryman Eli Paty and Barbadian Cruz Thornton, 7-5, 6-1.
