Na­tion­al Un­der-16 net­baller Ama­ra Bha­gan were among the shoot­ers lead­ing St Joseph’s Con­vent San Fer­nan­do (SJCSF) to a huge 65-1 win over Open Bible High in the Un­der-20 Di­vi­sion of the Vic­to­ria Dis­trict of the Sec­ondary Schools Net­ball League at the South­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Pleas­antville on Mon­day.

Bha­gan, who was part of the T&T U-16 team that won the Caribbean Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion’s Jean Pierre Youth Cham­pi­onships for the first time, hit 28 goals from 48 at­tempts as the open­ing goal-at­tack. Open­ing goal-shoot­er Tye-Sha Grant net­ted 12 goals from 23 tries.

The duo was re­placed by Sinéad Viña Pérez (6/12) and Tzeya Hicks (19/27), re­spec­tive­ly, who com­bined for 25 goals for the win­ning team in the lop­sided match to move SJCSF to two wins from as many match­es af­ter al­so com­fort­ably de­feat­ing San Fer­nan­do Cen­tral, 59-2, on Oc­to­ber 1. The shoot­ing quar­tet were al­so key in that open­ing win.

For Open Bible High, goal-shoot­er Neysa John­son con­nect­ed the lone goal from two at­tempts.

In the U-20 match, Pleas­antville out­played San Fer­nan­do (San F’do) Cen­tral, 42-2, thanks to the shoot­ing from Kate­lyn Dukhoo. The goal-shoot­er pro­duced a match-high 34 goals from 46 tries. Goal-at­tack Fe­li­cia Alexan­der, who did a good job feed­ing her shoot­er while adding eight in 19. It was al­so the sec­ond vic­to­ry for Pleas­antville, which opened with a 41-2 win against Open Bible High.

For San F’do Cen­tral, goal-at­tack Chelsea Ma­haraj net­ted the two goals from eight at­tempts.

San F’do Cen­tral al­so suf­fered de­feat in the 13 and Un­der Di­vi­sion, as its shoot­ers strug­gled, falling to SJCSF Team A, 21-0. Ar­i­an­na Dubé (13/17) and Gabrielle Spencer (8/10) were the shoot­ers for the win­ner.

It was quite a suc­cess­ful day for SJCSF as its team in the 15 and Un­der cat­e­go­ry al­so cel­e­brat­ed its first win of the sea­son, tak­ing down Pleas­antville, 28-2. Last Week, SJCSF was edged by San F’do Cen­tral, 13-12.

This time around, led by the shoot­ing of goal-at­tack Rane Ed­uar­do with 18 goals from 23 at­tempts, SJCSF pulled off the win.

The teams will be back in ac­tion next Wednes­day (Oc­to­ber 15) at the same venue from 9 am.
