Bishop Anstey Junior School captured five of the six team titles at stake when the inaugural Red, White, and Black (RWB) Academy Primary School Swimming Meet was held at the Centre of Excellence Pool, Macoya on Tuesday.
Overall, more than 200 swimmers from 59 schools participated in RWB Academy’s one-day but it was the Bishop Anstey Junior School swimmers who topped the Girls and Boys Special categories along with sweeping the Open Girls, Boys, and Combined competitions.
Bishop’s Anstey Junior School topped the Combined Team Scores list edging The University School for the inaugural title.
The young aqua lads and lasses from St. Ann’s amassed 694 points ahead of the University School with 679 points.
South-based swimmers of St Peter’s Private placed third, with Maria Regina Grade School and St Joseph’s Boys RC rounded off the top five places.
BAJS also had the best Boys and Girls Teams pipping the University School in both categories. Arima Boys’ RC stopped the Bishop’s sweep by winning the top Open Male team with Bishops winning the Girls Open Trophy.
Athletes had the option to enter the age group or the open category except for age 10 and over swimmers who had to compete in the open category once they participated in the ASATT National Championships. Winners of the open event race each won a trophy. The top eight swimmers in every age group were awarded trophies.
The inaugural RWB Primary School Swim Meet was declared open by 2020 Olympian Cherelle Thompson.
