Liam Carrington mounted the podium at least four times on Friday night when the action in the National Long Course Swimming Championships continued at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva.
Following a day in which he was also among the medals, Carrington splashed to a 56.61-second win in the 100-metre individual medley time trial for his first silverware. Later, he added the boys' 15-17 100m breaststroke gold medal to his cabinet when he romped home in a time of one minute, 06.09 seconds.
Carrington, who in 2023, broke six national junior records and captured an array of gold, silver, and bronze medals at various national and regional meets, then splashed to a quick 25.72 second for his third medal in the 50-metre backstroke before adding his fourth title of the night by disposing of the field in the 100m freestyle event, clocking a time of 49.64 seconds.
Zachary Anthony, meanwhile, was equally impressive, though claiming two medals on the night along with Nikoli Blackman. Anthony, the winner of multiple gold medals on day two of the championships last year was back to show it was no fluke. First, he displayed true grit to seal the boys' 11 & over 800m freestyle in 8:51.30, and then he returned to the pool to clinch the boys' 15-17 200m butterfly in 2:09.82.
The pair of Aimee Le Blanc and Kyle Leera each left the pool that night with three gold medals apiece, with Le Blanc who bagged two medals on the opening day of the championships on Thursday, adding the women's 800m freestyle and the girls' 13-14 800m freestyle titles to her name in identical times of 9:43.03.
Later, she tripled up by winning the girls' 200m butterfly by posting a quick 2:39.51 at the wall.
Leera was just as impressive, claiming the boys' 100-metre breaststroke when he touched the wall at the finish in 1:16.89. He also disposed of the field in the 50-metre backstroke for the win in 33.02 seconds while later clinching the 100m freestyle in 1:02.24.
Meanwhile, Blackman expectedly did not leave the pool empty-handed. The local swimmer, who won the gold medal in the men's 50-metre freestyle event at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships 2023 in Netanya, Israel, captured the boys' 18 & over 100m freestyle in 47.81 seconds, as well as the 50m backstroke in 25.34 seconds.
