Former T&T Women Warriors striker Kennya Cordner fired her 27th goal of the season in Fenerbache’s 6-0 defeat of Hatayspor in the Turkish Women’s Football League clash on Sunday.
Mariana Pereira Jaleca opened the scoring for Fenerbache as early as the sixth minute before the 33-year-old Cordner, who was cautioned in the 15th, and was nominated by Concacaf among its ten nominees for the “Best Forward” award, doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute, to go two goals clear of ALG Spor’s Mariem Houij (25 goals) before she was replaced in the 40th minute due to injury by Setenay Sirim.
Englishwoman Shameeka Fishley then added a second-half hat-trick in the 60th, 64th and 73rd to push her tally to 15, while Erin Michelle Yenney also chipped in with one of her own in the 68th for Fenerbache, now top of Group A with 46 points from 18 matches, one ahead of Besiktas who have a match in hand. Meanwhile Ankara Fomget and Antalyaspor are joint third with 38 points, and Fatih Vatan Spor, fifth with 37, one more than Eregli Belediye Spor.
At the top of the 12-club Group B standings are ALG Spor with 50 points from 18 matches, eight clear of second-placed Wulfz Fatih Karagumruk, while Hakkarigucu is third with 40 points, closely followed by Konak Belediyespor with 36, and Adana Idmanyurduspor with 31.
