Kale Dal­la Cos­ta con­tin­ued to fly the red, white and black flag high when he bat­tled his way through to the quar­ter­fi­nals of the Boys Un­der-18 Di­vi­sion Sin­gles in the Trin­i­ty Cup In­ter­na­tion­al Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion (ITF) Ju­nior Tour­na­ment at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre, Or­ange Grove Road, Tacarigua, Tues­day.

The first ju­nior men’s play­er to be seed­ed num­ber one for an ITF Ju­nior Tour­na­ment, Dal­la Cos­ta, a semi­fi­nal­ist in the Sun­shine Snacks Tran­quil­i­ty Ten­nis Open, re­cent­ly had to dig deep to se­cure a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win over Chi­na's Zi­cong Wang and will next face Brazil­ian Bernar­do Tedesco, ranked third who dumped Bar­ba­di­an Aidan Clarke in their round-of-16 clash 6-4, 6-0.

How­ev­er, in the Girls Un­der-18 Sin­gles draw, T&T’s Em-Myr­i­am Camp­bell-Smith, ranked sixth was beat­en in her tour­na­ment open­er 6-0, 6-2 by Cana­da's Alyssa Bel­tei af­ter be­ing hand­ed an open­ing round bye on Mon­day.

Due to per­sis­tent rain at the venue, match­es were forced to be tak­en to the in­door courts, where on­ly three match­es could be con­test­ed at any time, de­lay­ing the day's ac­tiv­i­ties some­what with ac­tion con­tin­u­ing up to press time last night.

Wednes­day, match­es re­sume from 9 am with boys’ and girls’ quar­ter­fi­nals as well as dou­bles quar­ter­fi­nals.
