De­fend­ing cham­pi­ons De­fence Force have the chance to be ex­act­ly where they be­lieve they ought to be, at the top of the 12-team T&T Pre­mier Foot­ball League stand­ings. They face Cale­do­nia AIA in a Tier 1 fea­ture match Wednes­day night at the Ken Cooke Recre­ation Ground, Po­lice Bar­racks, St James, start­ing at 8 pm.

​Coach De­vorn Jorsling’s men are fresh from a 3-1 tri­umph over San Juan Jabloteh on the week­end. Goals from Kai­him Thomas, Isa­iah Gar­cia, and cap­tain Kevin Moli­no pro­pelled them to third place with 23 points. Mis­cel­la­neous Po­lice, known as "The Law­men", cur­rent­ly oc­cu­py the sum­mit with 25 points but risk los­ing that spot if the De­fence Force pre­vails this evening.

​Be­tween them, Club San­do FC holds sec­ond po­si­tion on 24 points fol­low­ing a 2-0 re­sult over 1976 Phoenix this week­end. Shack­iel Hen­ry (85th) and Luke Phillips (90th) were the he­roes for the "South­ern­ers" as they closed out the open­ing round. Coach An­gus Eve’s charges will be­gin round two on Fri­day at the Phase II Recre­ation Ground in La Hor­quet­ta, Ari­ma, against those same op­po­nents (1976 Phoenix) at 6 pm.

​Cale­do­nia AIA has not looked like the con­tender they were last sea­son. To date, they have se­cured just three wins from nine match­es, along­side five loss­es and one draw. This strug­gling per­for­mance has left them in eighth place, and they will be des­per­ate for a win to end the round on a high note.

​Jorsling, whose team will head off to con­test the open­ing round of the Con­ca­caf Cham­pi­ons Cup against the Philadel­phia Union next month, will be ea­ger for a vic­to­ry to end the round and keep their ti­tle de­fence on track.

In the 6 pm cur­tain-rais­er of the dou­ble­head­er on Long Cir­cu­lar Road, FC Ea­gles will take on Ter­minex La Hor­quet­ta Rangers. Both teams are at­tempt­ing to shake off poor re­sults this sea­son. The Ea­gles are cur­rent­ly "fly­ing low" in ninth place with three wins from 10 match­es, while the Rangers sit at the bot­tom of the ta­ble with just five points from 10 match­es.
