East Mucurapo Secondary and Roxborough Secondary secured contrasting wins when the second round of matches took place Thursday in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Boys Championship Division "Big Five" competition for promotion to the Premier Division.

Former national champions East Mucurapo, commonly called "Compre", sounded a warning to all rivals with a convincing 4-1 thrashing of host and East Zone champion El Dorado West at the El Dorado West Secondary Ground in El Dorado.

For the Dale Saunders-coached "Compre", Keith Fraser opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Dante Joseph doubled the lead in the 14th minute. Niheme Vanderpool added a third in the 21st minute, and Ajani Glasgow capped off a commanding performance in the 79th minute for a 4-0 cushion.

Omani Edwards, who netted in his team's 5-0 win over Pleasantville Secondary in their opener on Monday, struck deep into stoppage time (90+3') for El Dorado West, though it served only as a late consolation.

With the win, East Mucurapo, who had their opener against Central Zone champions Presentation College of Chaguanas postponed due to a lack of match officials, moved to the top of the five-team table with three points, tied with El Dorado West and Tobago champions Roxborough Secondary.

At the Roxborough Secondary Ground, newly crowned Tobago Zone winners Roxborough Secondary battled to a 2-1 victory over visiting South Zone champions Pleasantville Secondary.

The in-form Nyelle Alleyne opened the scoring for the host in the 39th minute with his fourth goal in three matches, which his team took into the half-time interval.

T'Jorn Toppin doubled Roxborough Secondary's advantage in the 66th minute but with ten minutes left on the clock, Joshua De Four pulled one back for Pleasantville Secondary in the 80th minute. However, that was as close as Pleasantville would get as Roxborough held on for the win, handing Pleasantville a second defeat from as many matches.

At the end of the five-team round-robin series, the top three teams will be promoted to next year's SSFL Premier Division while four teams will be demoted at the end of this year's Premier Division, returning the competition to 16 teams for the 2027 campaign.
