Fire Services will be looking to rule in the Fast5 competition, set to unfold in the Courts All Sectors Netball League on Saturday at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua.
Last Saturday, the fire officers dominated the Premiership Division's Steve Sargeant Challenge to retain the knockout title after defeating the University of T&T (UTT) in the final, 41-27.
The shooting combination of goal-shooter (GS) Afeisha Noel and goal-attack (GA) Joelisa Cooper were unstoppable, leading Fire to its third crown of the season, already copping the round-robin league and opening day knockout tournament.
Noel was in top form connecting 29 goals from 34 attempts, while Cooper fed her shooter well while connecting 12 of 13 tries for the Fire team, which led 23-13 at halftime.
Goal-shooter Shaniya Morgan (8/12) and goal-attack Kalifa McCollin Lopez (8/9) opened shooting in the circle for UTT before Kathy-Ann Graham (11/15) replaced the former in the bib but it was not enough to bounce back, falling away by 14 goals in the 20-minute-a-half competition.
Earlier teams in the Championship Division, battled in the Jean Pierre Challenge (15 minutes a half) and it was Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) Sparks, boosted by the shooting of Liliah Matthews with 20 in 26, narrowly defeating Fire, 22-20, in the final.
For Fire, Nariba Grant was the leading scorer with 12 goals in 17 attempts.
On Tuesday, the University of Southern Caribbean (USC) emerged the winner of the Alternative Division knockout competing after edging MIC Tigers, 15-14 in the final.
Thursday, teams in the Retro Division will compete for their knockout crown.
On Saturday, teams in both the Championship and Premiership Divisions will be back on the court, competing for their respective Fast5 titles.
