France-based Chloe Fraser and Jerisse Elder picked up from where they left off in the T&T Table Tennis Association Arawak-sponsored Junior Silver Bowl Table Tennis Tournament a week ago, when they won the Senior Women's Doubles crown at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua on Saturday.
The 16-year-old Fraser, a recent gold (Girls Under-17 Singles) and silver (Girls U-19 Singles) medal winner at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender Tournament in Caracas, Venezuela won the Girls U-19 Singles and the Girls U-19 Doubles with Elder before the duo battled past Queen's Park Cricket Club's (QPCC) Imani Edwards-Taylor and Jordan Thong in a battle of national players, 11-6, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8 to take the Senior Doubles title.
Fraser and Elder had won their semifinal 11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-1 against youngsters Jannah Mohammed and Elizabeth Rajah while Edwards-Taylor and Thong overcame the mother-and-daughter pairing of Tunapuna Hindu School's Linda Partap-Boodhan and Lyllana Boodhan 11-8, 7-11, 13-11, 14-12.
The Humphreys brothers pairing of Curtis and Alaric of WASA captured the Men's Doubles crown after an 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9 victory over Yuvraaj Dookram and Sekel Mc Intosh of QPCC.
Earlier on, the Humphreys brothers defeated Aiden Noel and his brother Aaron 11-5, 11-3, 11-2 in the last-16 followed by QPCC's Jonathan Cottoy and Kymani Holder 11-2, 11-8, 11-6 in the quarterfinals; and Josiah Joseph and Jean-Marc Lee-Fai of Powergen in the semifinals 7-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-17, 11-9. Meanwhile, Dookram and Mc Intosh got a round-of-16 bye before they ousted Anson Lowkie and Rod Singh 11-5, 11-9, 11-9 in the quarterfinals and Malik Gopaul and N'Kosi Rouse in the semifinals, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8.
In the Mixed Doubles, the QPCC pair of Dookram and Edwards-Taylor defeated clubmates Mc Intosh and Thong in the decider 12-10, 11-6, 11-7.
Dookram and Edwards-Taylor served off the main draw with a quarterfinal win against Malik Gopaul and Lyllana Boodhan 11-6, 11-4, 11-9 and then Everton Sorzano and Partap-Boodhan 9-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9 in the semifnals while Mc Intosh and Thong overcame WASA's Curtis Humphreys and Ambika Sitram by walkover in the round-of-16; N'Kosi Rouse and Fraser of Crusaders, and then the team of Joseph and Elder of Powergen 11-8, 11-6, 11-9 in the semifinals. The tournament continued Sunday night with the finals of the Singles competitions.
