T&T Under-13 girls team of Priyanka Khellawan, Imani Edwards-Taylor, Sheneika Collette and Rebekah Sterling made a promising start to the 2018 Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Federation Mini and Pre Cadet (Under-11 and Under-13) Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, yesterday.
Playing in the six-team Girls Under-13 Team competition, the T&T quartet whipped Guyana 3-1 and then trounced Dominican Republic ‘B’ 3-0.
Last night, the T&T girls faced the Dominican Republic ‘A’ ahead of their final two matches today against Jamaica from 9 am followed by Puerto Rico, at 5.15pm.
The Boys Under-13 team of Nicholas O’Young, Jalen Kerr, Jamalli Mauge and Nicolas Lee went under to Puerto Rico 0-3 in their first match and came up against Guyana and Dominican Republic ‘B’ to end Group Two round-robin play.
Dominican Republic ‘A’, Jamaica, St Lucia and Curacao comprised Group Two.
In the Girls Under-11, T&T’s Chloe Fraser, Ashlea Mohammed, Lyllana Boodhan and Shreya Maraj battled past Guyana, 3-2 before losing to Dominican Republic ‘A, 0-3 and faced Puerto Rico last night.
Today, the T&T youngsters will complete round-robin play against Dominican Republic ‘B’, from 9 am and Jamaica, at 2.30pm.
The Under-11 Boys quartet of Gabriel John, Dillon Bruce, Sekel Mc Intosh, Kayode Lee went under to Guyana, 1-3 but rebounded to beat Dominican Republic ‘B’, 3-1.
