Point Guard Sadi­ki Guer­ra guid­ed Strak­er Nets to its sec­ond straight win in the Kelvin Roberts North Zone Bas­ket­ball League at the Wood­brook Youth Cen­tre in Port-of-Spain on Sun­day.

Guer­ra notched 28 points to see the de­fend­ing cham­pi­on to a huge 97-28 win over To­geth­er­ness in the sec­ond match of a triple-head­er. Lat­er, Mor­vant Oil­birds edged De­fence Force in an­oth­er First Di­vi­sion clash while in the first match, Spar­tans TT topped Roy­al­ty Bas­ket­ball Acad­e­my in the Un­der-17 Di­vi­sion.

Guer­ra got good sup­port on of­fence from post-play­er Chike Au­gus­tine and guard Tris­ton Ben­jamin, with 11 and 10, re­spec­tive­ly, as the Nets led through­out the lop­sided af­fair–25-7 in the first quar­ter, 48-17 at half­time and 75-19 in the third pe­ri­od, all in favour of Strak­er.

Nets, who opened the sea­son with a com­fort­able 89-68 win over De­fence Force, went on to take the 69-point win.

For To­geth­er­ness, Tim­o­thy Bel­grave was the lone play­er get­ting to dou­ble-dig­its, scor­ing 11.

In the oth­er First Di­vi­sion match, De­fence Force led for most of the match but fell to a 65-64 loss against Morant Oil­birds.

The army/coast­guard com­bi­na­tion team, thanks to the ef­forts of Ker­ry McMil­lan (19) and Kadeem Greig (10), held a 21-14 ad­van­tage at the end of the open­ing quar­ter. Oil­birds fought back but still trailed by three (39-36) at the half. The Mor­vant team re­fused to go away in the third pe­ri­od and stayed close with a two-point deficit, 49-47, head­ing in­to the fourth quar­ter. The Oil­birds team con­tin­ued to chip away at De­fence Force's lead and outscored its op­po­nent, 18-15, to seal the one-point win.

Lead­ing Mor­vant Oil­birds' of­fence was Kevon Williams with 16 points along with Obel Guer­ra with 15. Rashawn Hope and Joso Mays con­tributed to the win, each scor­ing 10.

The open­er saw Spar­tans ease past Roy­al­ty, 81-64, in the U-17 Di­vi­sion. Re­li­able trio Idri­is Mar­tin (28), Zachary Julien (20) and William Fran­cis (10) had Spar­tans ahead from the jump. The quar­ter scores read 24-15, 48-32, and 63-49, all favour­ing the even­tu­al win­ner.

For the Roy­al­ty unit, Ja­son Best was the top scor­er with 19 points.
