T&T's Tian­na Guy will step in­to the box­ing ring tonight at the Na­tion­al Cy­cling Cen­tre in Cou­va when the Head­lin­er in­ter­na­tion­al box­ing event gets go­ing from 7 pm.

The event, which will be a mix­ture of cul­ture, en­ter­tain­ment and sport, brings to­geth­er kick­box­ing, stick fight­ing and a cou­ple of bouts in the un­der­card, all be­fore Guy steps in­to the ring.

She will face Gre­cia No­va Ma­teo of the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic. Speak­ing at the weigh-in at the East Gates Mall, Trinci­ty, on Fri­day af­ter­noon, she ex­pressed grat­i­tude and ex­cite­ment as this is go­ing to be her first in­ter­na­tion­al op­po­nent since 2019 on home soil.

She said, "I'm feel­ing ex­cit­ed and ner­vous, which is nor­mal as I have learned to deal with it. I'm grate­ful for all the sup­port I'm get­ting from each and every spon­sor and I want every­one to come out and sup­port the event.

With the next Olympic Games sched­uled to be host­ed in Los An­ge­les, USA in 2028, she said she is us­ing this to jump-start her Olympic jour­ney.

Speak­ing about her op­po­nent, she said, "No­va is a very ex­pe­ri­enced fight­er who has fought some of the big names in the sport, name­ly Tiara Brown, who is the cur­rent WBC World ti­tle hold­er. I want­ed to test my­self against the best, hence we se­lect­ed her as she is def­i­nite­ly a wor­thy op­po­nent."

The na­tion­al box­er urged all to come out and sup­port.
