North Zone leader Holy Name Con­vent Port-of-Spain, on Sun­day moved to 15 points at the top of the stand­ing in the zone af­ter thrash­ing Bish­ops Anstey 8-4 at Fa­ti­ma grounds in the Girls Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion of the Tiger Tanks Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League.

Jes­si­ca Har­ra­gin led the way with a hat-trick, while Ca­lyp­so Ay­oung and El­liana Dyette each got a brace, and Ja­da Cum­mings got the oth­er goal to en­sure that the school stayed in strong con­tention to claim the win in the zone that would en­able them, to progress to the play-offs next month.

At St Joseph’s Con­vent’s home ground, the home team will have to wait for or­gan­is­ers to de­cide what hap­pens next in their en­counter with Tran­quil­i­ty Sec­ondary, which was aban­doned with four min­utes left in the game.

The St Joseph’s Con­vent girls led 9-0 when the ref­er­ee called off the match. The St Joseph’s girls are sec­ond on the stand­ings with nine points and a win in this game will take them to 12 points where they will main­tain pres­sure on the leader.

In an­oth­er North Zone match, the of­fi­cials will al­so have to de­cide af­ter the Diego Mar­tin Cen­tral ver­sus Bish­op’s Cen­te­nary con­test was al­so called off with 25 min­utes to go due to rain. The Diego Mar­tin girls were lead­ing 2-1 at that time.

Mean­while, in the East Zone, Five Rivers Sec­ondary main­tained their lead at the top of the ta­ble by ham­mer­ing El Do­ra­do East, 6-0. They now lead sec­ond-place St Au­gus­tine Sec­ondary by three points on 12 points.

How­ev­er, the St Au­gus­tine girls shut out Man­zanil­la Sec­ondary 4-2 to move to nine points.

In an­oth­er match, the San Juan North could not fol­low in the foot­steps of their boys’ coun­ter­parts, as they went down 5-0 to Bish­op Anstey East.

Mean­while, match­es in the south and cen­tral zones were post­poned.
