Henry fires Club Sando to Mayor's Cup $10,000 crown

Shack­iel Hen­ry net­ted a hand­ful of goals to end with eight in two match­es as Club San­do crushed T&T De­fence Force Tier II 6-1 to take the $10,000 win­ner's prize in the San Fer­nan­do May­or’s Cup host­ed by the San Fer­nan­do City Cor­po­ra­tion in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the T&T Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (TTFA) and the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League (SS­FL) at Skin­ner Park, San Fer­nan­do, on Mon­day night.

Jer­rel Coop­er was the oth­er play­er on tar­get for Club San­do who won their open­er against Pre­mier SC 4-1 on Fri­day.

Hen­ry was al­so vot­ed as the "Most Goals" award win­ner as well as the "Most Valu­able Play­er" of the tour­na­ment while his team­mate Jonathan Hart was vot­ed "Best Goal­keep­er".

In a resched­uled en­counter on Tues­day, Pre­mier SC cooled off Fire Ser­vice 4-1 with a goal each from Aki­ni Ram­sey, Is­rael Joseph, Kelon Williams and Malachi Webb to fin­ish ahead of De­fence Force Tier II line-up on goal-dif­fer­ence and with it, the $7,000 run­ner-up award.

In the women's com­pe­ti­tion, De­fence Force got the bet­ter of ri­vals Club San­do 4-3 on sud­den-death penal­ty kicks af­ter a 1-1 draw in their ti­tle de­cider.

For Club San­do, Afiyah Corn­wall net­ted while Alex­cia Ali drew De­fence Force lev­el to send the match in­to the dread­ed penal­ty-kick shoot-out where De­fence Force cus­to­di­an Nico­lette Craig pulled off two saves to se­cure the ti­tle for her team which led to her be­ing named the 'Most Valu­able Play­er' and 'Best Goal­keep­er' awards re­cip­i­ents.
