Shackiel Henry netted a handful of goals to end with eight in two matches as Club Sando crushed T&T Defence Force Tier II 6-1 to take the $10,000 winner's prize in the San Fernando Mayor’s Cup hosted by the San Fernando City Corporation in collaboration with the T&T Football Association (TTFA) and the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Monday night.
Jerrel Cooper was the other player on target for Club Sando who won their opener against Premier SC 4-1 on Friday.
Henry was also voted as the "Most Goals" award winner as well as the "Most Valuable Player" of the tournament while his teammate Jonathan Hart was voted "Best Goalkeeper".
In a rescheduled encounter on Tuesday, Premier SC cooled off Fire Service 4-1 with a goal each from Akini Ramsey, Israel Joseph, Kelon Williams and Malachi Webb to finish ahead of Defence Force Tier II line-up on goal-difference and with it, the $7,000 runner-up award.
In the women's competition, Defence Force got the better of rivals Club Sando 4-3 on sudden-death penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in their title decider.
For Club Sando, Afiyah Cornwall netted while Alexcia Ali drew Defence Force level to send the match into the dreaded penalty-kick shoot-out where Defence Force custodian Nicolette Craig pulled off two saves to secure the title for her team which led to her being named the 'Most Valuable Player' and 'Best Goalkeeper' awards recipients.
