AHMEDABAD – Jason Holder’s fairytale start with the ball for the Gujarat Titans continued as his three-wicket haul saw them pummel Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs and rise to the summit of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.
Sent in on a difficult pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Titans recovered from a horrible start to post 168 for five in their 20 overs.
The recovery was led by opener Sai Sudharsan, who scored 61 from 44 balls with five fours and two sixes, and Washington Sundar’s even half century off 33 balls.
Holder scored an unbeaten 11 off 10 balls.
SRH never recovered from being 32 for four in the sixth over and were eventually bundled out for just 86 in 14.5 overs.
Holder was the Titans’ best bowler with 3-20 from his four overs, while Player-of-the-Match Kagiso Rabada claimed 3-28.
The West Indies all-rounder now has taken 13 wickets in just six matches.
It was the Titans’ fifth straight victory and took them to 16 points from 12 matches, two more than Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have played one game less.
