ST JOHN’S, Antigua – West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been nominated for the Senior Sportsman of the Year award for 2024 by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries.
The 28-year-old Joseph, along with track star Cejhae Greene and sailing phenom Rocco Falcone head a list of 12 athletes who will vie for the honour at the award ceremony set to take place on March 15.
The other nominees are Daren Benta (softball cricket), Noah St. Clair (rifle), Dante Browne (fencing), Marlon George (golf), Tony Phillip (bodybuilding), Raheem Deterville (football), Yashid Auguiste (volleyball), Xavier Meade (basketball) and Jadon Wuilliez (swimming).
Meanwhile, in the Senior Sportswoman category, bodybuilder Kimberley Percival is the overwhelming favourite to win the award from a field of 11 nominees that include Joella Lloyd (athletics), Bianca Mitchell (swimming), Jewel Crump (fencing), Junella King (sailing), Josanne Lewis (volleyball), Reyana Regis (netball), Amanda Edwards (cricket), Alexandria Hunte (golf), Makada Samuel-Hector (softball cricket), and Iressica Allen (football).
