ST JOHN’S, An­tigua – West In­dies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been nom­i­nat­ed for the Se­nior Sports­man of the Year award for 2024 by the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, Sports and Cre­ative In­dus­tries.

The 28-year-old Joseph, along with track star Ce­jhae Greene and sail­ing phe­nom Roc­co Fal­cone head a list of 12 ath­letes who will vie for the ho­n­our at the award cer­e­mo­ny set to take place on March 15.

The oth­er nom­i­nees are Daren Ben­ta (soft­ball crick­et), Noah St. Clair (ri­fle), Dante Browne (fenc­ing), Mar­lon George (golf), Tony Phillip (body­build­ing), Ra­heem De­ter­ville (foot­ball), Yashid Au­guiste (vol­ley­ball), Xavier Meade (bas­ket­ball) and Jadon Wuil­liez (swim­ming).

Mean­while, in the Se­nior Sports­woman cat­e­go­ry, body­builder Kim­ber­ley Per­ci­val is the over­whelm­ing favourite to win the award from a field of 11 nom­i­nees that in­clude Joel­la Lloyd (ath­let­ics), Bian­ca Mitchell (swim­ming), Jew­el Crump (fenc­ing), Junel­la King (sail­ing), Josanne Lewis (vol­ley­ball), Reyana Reg­is (net­ball), Aman­da Ed­wards (crick­et), Alexan­dria Hunte (golf), Maka­da Samuel-Hec­tor (soft­ball crick­et), and Ires­si­ca Allen (foot­ball).
