BRIDGETOWN – Nicholas Kirton, the captain of Canada’s cricket team, is in police custody as he assists police in relation to a drug charge.
The 26-year-old Barbadian was taken into police custody on Sunday after arriving at the Grantley Adams International Airport.
According to sources, the investigation is in relation to 20 pounds of cannabis.
Kirton played for the West Indies Under 19s and Barbados before migrating to Canada.
He has also represented the Combined Campuses and Colleges, Jamaica Tallawahs, the Montreal Tigers and the Toronto Nationals.
