Guyana's T&T-based boxer Joel 'The Matador' Mc Crae wants to confirm his superiority over Nigel 'Cow' Edwards when the two clash in a light heavyweight contest at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena (CRISA) in Chaguanas on June 29.
Yesterday, Mc Crae, who defeated his opponent on February 2, 2019, said he was angered by claims that Edwards was robbed in the fight and now wants to set the record straight come June 29.
"I was supposed to fight for the Royal Boxing Organisation Intercontinental title against a Mexican fighter but I turned it down to set the records straight when I heard Edwards saying that the fight was not a fair one," Mc Crae told Guardian Media.
"I immediately called my manager and told him I wanted a rematch with Edwards because I didn't want to move on to a world title and have that hanging over my head."
Mc Crae's victory over Edwards came via a split decision but this time the stocky Guyanese fighter wants to knock his man to the canvas.
"This time the nation will see the Mc Crae that everyone knows, a fighter who has been in the gym training hard for the past two months and is fit and ready to fight," he said.
"In the last match I fought my fight, but this time I intend to fight him his fight. Everyone knows he is a slugger, so I will slug it out with him in the middle of the ring and show him that he cannot beat me. I am not coming to box, but to fight."
The Mc Crae/Edwards contest will be one of nine bouts on an undercard that will precede a feature RBO Intercontinental Lightweight clash between T&T's Prince Lee Isidore and Mexican Emmanuel Herrera. The card is being put on by the Fine Line Fight Factory and the USA's Lion Stone Promotion
In the other fights, Kevon Diaz will be up against Leon Dover in a six-round super welterweight fight, Yuray Cisnero will take on Aaron Williams in a light heavyweight showdown and T&T's former heavyweight champion Kertson Manswell is set to re-enter the ring for his second fight in over five months.
