After more than 62 goals scored in the quarterfinal round of the National Coca-Cola Intercol Play-off, yesterday, 11 teams sealed Zonal semifinal places, inclusive of San Juan North, Naparima College, Carapichaima West Secondary, and Speyside High School.
In the East zone at the Bourge Mulatresse Ground in San Juan, the home team was extremely ruthless against El Dorado West Secondary, crushing them 8-0.
The win came courtesy of braces from talented midfielder Lindell Sween, continuing to stand out in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) to date, Jaheim Danclair and the equally-talented Nathan Quashie.
The El Dorado lads, struggled in the Championship Division this season and failed to improve their fortunes yesterday as they found it hard to mount any sort of resistance.
Naparima College on the other hand, made light work out of the St Madeleine Secondary, despite removing their entire coaching staff after placing third in the standings in the Premier Division of the SSFL.
At the Lewis Street Recreation Ground in San Fernando, Naparima College warmed up with a brace each from Jaron Pascall in the 12th and 23rd and Tevin Pantor in the 31st and 80th minute in thrashing St Madeleine 5-0 for the right to advance to the south semis.
The other Naps goal came from the boot of Xarion France in the 74th minute.
However, the Central zone was also abuzz with activities. Carapichaima West Secondary was particularly lethal on Couva East Secondary, hammering them 12-0.
The Central Giants were led by a beaver-trick from Jaydon Bartholomew (4) and a hat-trick from Supreme Outar, while Karmali Wilson, Josiah Christopher, Ryan Devenish, Miguel Chinholm and Darion Boswell were the other scorers.
And in the sister isle of Tobago, Speyside wasted little time in crushing Goodwood High 10-0 at the Black Rock Recreation Ground to earn the right to face the winner of Scarborough Secondary and Mason Hall Secondary in the semis.
The Speyside lads benefited from hat-tricks from Shyan George in the 1st, 58th, and 61st minutes, and Riquelme Phillips in the 54th, 59th and 64th.
