A double strike from Jovanni Johnson and a hat-trick from Kamali Rose ensured that St Kizito Nelson Street Boys’ Roman Catholic Primary School stormed away with both the Boys’ Under-11 and Under-15 titles in the Port-of-Spain and Environs District of the National Primary Schools Football League on Friday morning.
Both squads advanced to the title matches on Thursday—the U-11s defeating the International School 4-1, and the U-15s overcoming Newtown Boys’ RC 3-0. On Friday, the Port-of-Spain powerhouse was determined to claim all the top prizes, and they did just that.
In the U-11 final at the Hasely Crawford Stadium training ground in Mucurapo, Johnson found the net twice and teammate Tafari Charles added another, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Dunross Preparatory School.
For Dunross Prep, Blake Camacho also scored a brace, but his side ultimately had to settle for the runner-up spot on the day.
Both Charles and Johnson shared the “Most Goals” award, while Johnson also claimed the “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) title for the division.
Later on the same field, Rose led from the front with a hat-trick in steering Nelson Street Boys to a comfortable 5-1 thrashing of Success RC in the U-15 final.
Kamali’s goals set the stage for a dominant performance that also comprised items from the boots of Charles and Johnson, who both proved good enough to play in the higher division. Sydney Saroop was the lone scorer for Success RC.
Afterwards, Johnson added another “Most Goals” silverware to his cabinet, but Jaseem Belgrave of Nelson Street Boys was voted the MVP in the U-15s.
