Pooran leads Superchargers to victory in the Hundred

LON­DON – An ex­plo­sive Play­er-of-the-Match half-cen­tu­ry from Nicholas Pooran spurred North­ern Su­per­charg­ers to a sev­en-wick­et win against South­ern Brave in the Men’s Hun­dred on Tues­day in Eng­land.

The West In­dies left-hand­ed bats­man cracked four fours and five six­es in 62 off 34 balls, and Su­per­charg­ers suc­cess­ful­ly chased a tar­get of 147 to win their sec­ond match of the 100 balls-a-side tour­na­ment at Head­in­g­ley.

Pooran, bat­ting at three, added 49 off 31 balls for the sec­ond wick­et with Gra­ham Clark and set up the vic­to­ry chase with a third wick­et stand of 52 off 29 balls with Eng­land bats­man and Su­per­charg­ers cap­tain Har­ry Brook.

Ear­li­er, fel­low for­mer West In­dies white-ball cap­tain Kieron Pol­lard smashed 37 off 22 balls and shared a record sev­enth wick­et stand of 52 with Bar­ba­dos-born, Eng­land pac­er Christo­pher Jor­dan that helped South­ern Brave reach 146 for eight.

The Brave were scram­bling on 91 for six off 63 balls be­fore Pol­lard and Jor­dan beefed up their side’s to­tal in a 35-ball blitz.
