ST JOHN’S, An­tigua – Trinidad and To­ba­go con­tin­ued their dom­i­nant march through the CWI Ris­ing Stars Un­der-19 Women’s Cham­pi­onship, se­cur­ing their third con­sec­u­tive vic­to­ry with a crush­ing ten-wick­et de­mo­li­tion of the Wind­ward Is­lands at the Lib­er­ta Sports Club, Tues­day (Au­gust 11).

In a dis­play of sheer bowl­ing prowess, T&T skit­tled the Wind­wards for a pal­try 52 runs in just 19.4 overs. The star of the show was Sama­ra Ram­nath, who pro­duced a sen­sa­tion­al spell to claim 4-10, in­clud­ing a hat trick, as she ripped through the mid­dle or­der.

Jae­da Tyrell 16 and Kaela George 12 of­fered the on­ly no­table re­sis­tance for the Wind­wards.

Any hopes of a mirac­u­lous de­fence were quick­ly ex­tin­guished as Ram­nath re­turned with the bat to smash an un­beat­en 27, shar­ing an un­bro­ken 53-run open­ing stand with Am­ri­ta Ram­ta­hal 18 not out to chase down the tar­get in a mere 6.3 overs. The win keeps T&T per­fect at the top of the stand­ings.

Mean­while, at the Coolidge Crick­et Ground, Ja­maica bounced back from a mid-in­nings wob­ble to se­cure their sec­ond straight win, edg­ing out Guyana by 21 runs in a tense af­fair.

Bat­ting first, the Ja­maicans post­ed 103 all out in 19.4 overs. Sashane Rick­etts top-scored with 22, while Shama­ra Hall (re­tired hurt) and Zari­ah Blair con­tributed 13 runs each. Danel­lie Manns was the pick of the Guyanese bowlers, fin­ish­ing with tidy fig­ures of 2-11.

In re­ply, Guyana’s chase nev­er quite gained the re­quired mo­men­tum, de­spite a de­cent start. Akeela Stephen fought valiant­ly with 18, and Sarah Bheir added 12, but the Ja­maican at­tack proved too dis­ci­plined. Ne­veah Web­ley led the wick­et-tak­ers with 3-19, en­sur­ing Guyana were re­strict­ed to 82 all out in 17.2 overs.

The day’s oth­er fix­ture saw Bar­ba­dos Women record a re­sound­ing 90-run vic­to­ry over the Lee­ward Is­lands at the same venue.

Bar­ba­di­an open­er Eboni Brath­waite was the undis­put­ed star, carv­ing a mag­nif­i­cent un­beat­en 135 to pro­pel her side to a mam­moth 262-2 in their 20 overs. Zaniyah Bruce re­mained not out on 20 along­side her.

Faced with a daunt­ing tar­get, the Lee­wards man­aged a re­spectable 116-3 in re­ply, with Zara Sker­ritt hit­ting an un­beat­en 37 and Inn­ka Wil­son 28, but they were al­ways well adrift of the re­quired run rate. Camia Matthew-Brome took 1-5 for the Ba­jans.
