Chris Richards Jr continues his march towards 2021 the Republic Bank Junior Open Golf Championship when he extended his lead by four strokes over Jean- Mac Chevrotiere at Millennium Lakes Gold Course in Trincity on Wednesday.
Richards, 16, the winner of the T&T Open Championships title two weekends ago and the Pointe-a-Pierre Flight, followed up his73 on day 1 on Tuesday, with a 72 for a gross of 145, to remain as the favourite to win the National Junior championship title.
The talented Chevrotiere remains close on Richards heels with a second-day score of 74, a stroke better than the 75 he recorded on day 1 for a gross of 149. However, he is facing a tough day three and need to shoot a course best if he's to post any challenge of denying Richards the top honours in the 16-18 Male category.
Chasing the leaders is Ethan Hill, who shot 78, a three-stroke improvement from Tuesday to gross 158.
Meanwhile, Brechin Castle Open champion Zico Correia, who shot a disappointing 83 on Tuesday bounced back with 76 to secure the fourth spot with a gross of 159, while Ayden Ali jumps into the top five with a 76 to better the 85 he registered on the opening day of play.
Hill, the Boys 14-15 age-group Category leader from Alex Kangoo, followed up his 81 on Tuesday with a disappointing 86.
Among the Girl's, it's a two-horse race with Fatimah Emamalie, who shot 93 to improve on the 95 on day 1 to gross 188, while Elise La Borde struggled with 106 which was a stroke better than Tuesday to gross 213.
