Soccer Made Simple FC of Arouca/Trincity captured the winner’s prize of $7,000 when they spanked Palo Seco’s Cox Football Academy 4-1 for the title when the curtain fell on the Next Level Consulting Limited Under-19 Community Cup at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Balmain, Couva on Monday.

Simple was led by the talismanic striker, Terron Miller scoring two goals, for his 16th and 17th of the season, and Jaheim Patrick and Micah Nelson contributed one goal a piece. The lone Cox Football Academy goal was scored by Mordecai Brown.

Despite the loss, Cox Football Academy did not leave empty-handed as they collected $5,500 for the second spot while Cantaro United FC of Santa Cruz collected the third-place prize of $2,500 after getting the better of Eagles FC of Scarborough, Tobago 2-1 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 score at the end of regulation time.

In the first game, the third-place matchup between Cantaro United F.C. and Eagles F.C. of Scarborough, Tobago, penalty kicks were needed to decide the exciting game. After end to end action, the match ended 2-2 on a wet and slippery surface. Both Cantaro United’s goals during regulation time were scored by Nathaniel Perouse. While Jabari Alexander and Keanu Boatswain scored for the Tobagonian group winners.

Cantaro United eventually won the riveting penalty shootout 3-2, after a tough display from the penalty spot by both teams. Both NLCL games were broadcast live on Flow Sports channel, Flow Sports app and Youtube.

Last weekend at the same venue, the hotly contested second semi-final between Cox Football Academy and Cantaro United FC which ended 3-1 in the former favour was marred by the issuance of five red cards.

Following the game, the issue was referred to the T&T Football Association (TTFA) Special Disciplinary Committee, which ruled out any further participation of the five red-carded players.

Additionally, the Special Disciplinary Committee also fined both teams a substantial amount for not maintaining disciplinary control of their respective teams.

In the first semifinal, Soccer Made Simple FC also defeated Eagles FC 3-1 with a very clinical and disciplined performance.

Brian Jordan, Tournament Chairman said following the final, “On behalf of the NLCL U19 Community Cup organizing committee, congratulations to our well deserved new champions, Soccer Made Simple F.C. We hope to have them defend their title when the tournament resumes in December in its normally scheduled timeframe.”

He added, “As a business owner and a coach, it feels so good to know we have given these young men an opportunity to showcase their abilities locally and internationally with both games shown live on Flow Sports. The organizing committee of Sandra Pompey, Germaine Jordan and myself would like to thank all fans, and supporters, and will try our best to ensure we return with an even better tournament in December.”

Jordan also extended thanks to its stakeholders, including our sponsors, teams, match officials and loyal fans for continuing to be extremely supportive as we get our youngsters an opportunity to showcase their skills and unlimited potential. Specifically, the committee wishes to thank Next Level Consulting Limited, the Ministry of Sports and Community Development, National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago, Complete Distributors Limited, National Lotteries Control Board, SOCO Restaurant (NYC), Southern Supplies Limited and Ramsingh’s Sports World for their kind and generous support.
