Carif­ta boys’ Un­der-17 200 me­tres cham­pi­on Kadeem Chi­napoo will lead St Bene­dict’s Col­lege in­to ac­tion at the 128th edi­tion of the Penn Re­lays at Franklyn Field, Uni­ver­si­ty Park, Penn­syl­va­nia, USA from Thursday (April 25) un­til Sat­ur­day (April 27).

Chi­napoo al­so won sil­ver in the boys’ U-17 100m and an­chored the 4x100m team to sec­ond place at this year’s Carif­ta Games in Grena­da over the East­er week­end. He, along with his broth­er Ha­keem, will team up with Mc Kale Mo­hammed and Ly­dell Bap­tiste to do bat­tle in the High School Boys’ 4x100m.

Ha­keem, Bap­tiste and Mo­hammed will join forces with Kyphom Richards for the 4x400m.

St Bene­dict’s is one of four lo­cal schools mak­ing the Penn trip. Fa­ti­ma Col­lege, Queen Roy­al Col­lege (QRC) and Trin­i­ty Col­lege East are the oth­ers

Fa­ti­ma is led by dou­ble Carif­ta medal­list Tyrique Vin­cent who claimed sil­ver in the boys’ U-17 long jump and bronze in the high jump in Grena­da. He will com­pete in the High School boys’ long jump and is a mem­ber of the 4x100m team along with Yohance Ather­ton, Gio­van­ni Bobb-Sem­ple and Levi Smith. Ather­ton and Smith as well as Qayshon Roberts and Tyriq Springer, fly the school colours in the 4x400m.

QRC’s Rishawn Thomp­son, Jor­dan Noel, Kah-El Grant and Chris­tiano Austin are en­tered in the High Schools Boys’ 4x100m while Aidan Daniel, Jaleel Eu­gene, Ky­mani Rol­locks and Ja­heim Mc Far­lane are list­ed for the 4x400m.

Trin­i­ty Col­lege East (Nel­son Pe­ters, Ar­mani Dil­lon, Eli­jah Mitchell, Jay­den Alexan­der) is al­so en­tered 4x400m.

Ja­maica-based Do­ri­an Charles and Le­bron James will com­pete for Ja­maica Col­lege in the High Schools boys’ javelin and Natasha Fox is sched­uled to be in Ed­win Allen High School’s line-up for the girls’ 4x400m.

The heats of High Schools boys’ 4x100m are set for to­day with the fi­nals a day lat­er while the pre­lim­i­nar­ies for the boys’ 4x400m are card­ed for to­mor­row and the fi­nals on Sat­ur­day.
