Carifta boys’ Under-17 200 metres champion Kadeem Chinapoo will lead St Benedict’s College into action at the 128th edition of the Penn Relays at Franklyn Field, University Park, Pennsylvania, USA from Thursday (April 25) until Saturday (April 27).
Chinapoo also won silver in the boys’ U-17 100m and anchored the 4x100m team to second place at this year’s Carifta Games in Grenada over the Easter weekend. He, along with his brother Hakeem, will team up with Mc Kale Mohammed and Lydell Baptiste to do battle in the High School Boys’ 4x100m.
Hakeem, Baptiste and Mohammed will join forces with Kyphom Richards for the 4x400m.
St Benedict’s is one of four local schools making the Penn trip. Fatima College, Queen Royal College (QRC) and Trinity College East are the others
Fatima is led by double Carifta medallist Tyrique Vincent who claimed silver in the boys’ U-17 long jump and bronze in the high jump in Grenada. He will compete in the High School boys’ long jump and is a member of the 4x100m team along with Yohance Atherton, Giovanni Bobb-Semple and Levi Smith. Atherton and Smith as well as Qayshon Roberts and Tyriq Springer, fly the school colours in the 4x400m.
QRC’s Rishawn Thompson, Jordan Noel, Kah-El Grant and Christiano Austin are entered in the High Schools Boys’ 4x100m while Aidan Daniel, Jaleel Eugene, Kymani Rollocks and Jaheim Mc Farlane are listed for the 4x400m.
Trinity College East (Nelson Peters, Armani Dillon, Elijah Mitchell, Jayden Alexander) is also entered 4x400m.
Jamaica-based Dorian Charles and Lebron James will compete for Jamaica College in the High Schools boys’ javelin and Natasha Fox is scheduled to be in Edwin Allen High School’s line-up for the girls’ 4x400m.
The heats of High Schools boys’ 4x100m are set for today with the finals a day later while the preliminaries for the boys’ 4x400m are carded for tomorrow and the finals on Saturday.
