Daymian Stewart has been entrusted with another opportunity to manage the affairs of volleyball .
It will be his second consecutive time in office but his third term in total at the helm of the T&T Volleyball Federation (TTVF).
But he noted that after spending close to 30 years in the sport at the administrative level he wants it to be his last.
"This term must be one of learning and passing on to the youths. I always tell them that they must be able to step up and take over," said the president.
At the TTVF election which took place at the Chaguanas North Secondary School on Saturday, Stewart, a former national player and administrator, was given the nod unopposed.
The show of confidence in his leadership capabilities enabled him to lead a team of 15 members, several of whom had to endure battles at the poll while others were elected unopposed.
Deon Hutchinson was given the go-ahead for the position of first vice president with a convincing 13-1 victory over Bobby Andrews; Amoy Jeffreys prevailed over Cheneil Millette for the second vice president post, while Alyssa Hutchinson and Renesha Bridgewater were both unopposed for their respective positions of general secretary and schools representative.
Meanwhile, Tobago Representative Nolan Daniel was not challenged for his position, as well as the pair of Stephen Enile and Colin Charles who will hold down the positions of beach volleyball representatives. Norlisha Alleyne earned her spot as the volleyball executive by beating Sheldon Sandiford 11-3 to be the representative for the sport's officials, and Alysha Baptiste got the win unopposed to be one of four club representative positions. The others Jesseul Wilson and Joshua Persaud, both unopposed.
Hutchinson (Deon) revealed yesterday that Baptiste has already been put to be the executive's public relations officer (PRO) who will also handle the social media communications, while Wilson, who has a background in finance will operate in the Accounts Department and Persaud will look after the affairs of the athletes.
Chaitram Ramdial, the other club representative, will work alongside Stewart.
Meanwhile, both Cheneil Millette and Merlin Ramey were chosen as two minority members.
Hutchinson (Deon), a long-serving member of the sport told Guardian Media Sports his executive is planning to deliver on promises made to the membership, though they have very little to no time to do it.
This he said, entails having official screening and eventual training sessions for the country's Under-23 and U-17 teams for regional competition.
Given the mandate as the High Performance and Events coordinator, Hutchinson revealed the U-17s are set to contest the Caribbean U-17 Volleyball Championships in Jamaica from July 24 - August 3, while both the U-23 men's and women's teams are to contest the Caribbean U-23 Volleyball Championships from July 3-7 in the Cayman Islands (Men), and from July 9-14 right here in T&T for the women.
He said also that the volleyball federation is in a rush to have a women's team compete at the Pan American Cup in Mexico from August 1-13, as well as senior men's and women's teams for the Caribbean Volleyball Championships Seniors for men and women in the Bahamas from August 14-24.
In addition, Stewart and his team will ensure the start of the National Volleyball League in September. This League will cater for age-group competition that includes U-15, U-19, U-21 and U-23s.
Hutchinson also said the National League will see the return of the C Division for action among players who rarely get the opportunity to play, as well as an A Division and a B Division.
