The Trinidad and To­ba­go Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (TTFA) will host an Ex­tra­or­di­nary Con­gress on April 13 for the elec­tion of a new Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee.

Last Feb­ru­ary 13, 2024, the TTFA Nor­mal­i­sa­tion Com­mit­tee is­sued a no­tice to the TTFA Mem­ber­ship invit­ing can­di­da­tures to be sub­mit­ted for the Elec­tive Con­gress in April 2024.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTFA re­lease the process for the nom­i­na­tion of can­di­dates, in­tegri­ty checks, and elec­tion pro­ce­dures (the elec­toral process) is gov­erned by the lo­cal fed­er­a­tion statutes and its elec­toral code.

The TTFA re­leased con­firmed the of­fi­cial list of can­di­dates for the 2024 elec­tive con­gress with Kieron Ed­wards and his nine-mem­ber slate up against T&T Pre­mier Foot­ball League’s Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer Col­in Wharfe’s slate in the bat­tle to step in­to of­fice for the FI­FA-ap­point­ed Nor­mal­i­sa­tion Com­mit­tee led by Robert Hadad which has been in charge of lo­cal foot­ball

Ac­cord­ing to Ar­ti­cle 30 par. 3 of the TTFA Statutes, the elec­tion for the po­si­tions with­in the Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee shall take place by slate.

For clar­i­ty, there shall be no elec­tion by po­si­tion. A vot­ing del­e­gate will be in­vit­ed to reg­is­ter their vote, via se­cret bal­lot, at the Elec­tive Con­gress for ei­ther one of the two slates – “Slate Ed­wards” or “Slate Wharfe”.

The re­lease not­ed that the vot­ing del­e­gates must be­long to the TTFA Mem­ber that they rep­re­sent and be ap­point­ed or elect­ed by the ap­pro­pri­ate body of that TTFA mem­ber.

TTFA of­fi­cer to at­tend FI­FA In­tegri­ty Sum­mit

TTFA In­tegri­ty Of­fi­cer Christophe Braith­waite will be among the in­vit­ed in­tegri­ty of­fi­cers of all 211 FI­FA mem­ber as­so­ci­a­tions and the six con­fed­er­a­tions who will at­tend the first FI­FA In­tegri­ty Sum­mit.

This sum­mit will be held in Sin­ga­pore on 4 and 5 April 2024 in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Asian Foot­ball Con­fed­er­a­tion and the Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion of Sin­ga­pore.

The sum­mit aims to up­date in­tegri­ty of­fi­cers on glob­al in­tegri­ty trends, share best prac­tices, present the new FI­FA In­tegri­ty Hand­book and Ed­u­ca­tion Roadmap, and ex­plore rel­e­vant de­ci­sions from FI­FA and the Court of Ar­bi­tra­tion for Sport (CAS) re­gard­ing match ma­nip­u­la­tion.

A FI­FA re­port states, “In line with FI­FA’s vi­sion to make foot­ball tru­ly glob­al, the FI­FA Glob­al In­tegri­ty Pro­gramme aims to pro­vide In­tegri­ty Of­fi­cers with­in FI­FA’s mem­ber as­so­ci­a­tions all around the world with an in-depth un­der­stand­ing of the scourge of match ma­nip­u­la­tion and ways or mea­sures to tack­le it ef­fec­tive­ly.

The pro­gramme, de­vel­oped in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the UN­ODC, will de­liv­er the knowl­edge and tools need­ed to pre­vent and fight match ma­nip­u­la­tion as well as to pro­mote in­tegri­ty by set­ting up suc­cess­ful and sus­tain­able ini­tia­tives at the mem­ber as­so­ci­a­tion lev­el. Fur­ther­more, it will pro­vide in­sight in­to how to con­duct in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to match ma­nip­u­la­tion in­ci­dents us­ing prac­ti­cal ex­am­ples. The pro­gramme will al­so serve as an op­por­tu­ni­ty for In­tegri­ty Of­fi­cers to share ex­pe­ri­ences and best prac­tices with one an­oth­er.
