T&T’s Paul Decle has been appointed technical director of football in the British Virgin Islands. His appointment was first announced by the BVI Football Association (BVIFA) at the launch of the 14th BDO Schools Football League last Wednesday (October 30) at AO Shirley Recreation Grounds.
Decle, who previously worked with the T&T Football Association (TTFA) where he had several roles, replaces Dan Neville who opted not to renew his contract, which expired on September 1, 2024.
During his time in T&T, Decle was head coach of the national futsal team, a coach educator and coordinator for the Grassroots Programme in West Trinidad and was last at the helm of the country’s High-Performance girls’ football team, which competed in League B of the 2024 Concacaf Under-15 Development Championships Programme held in T&T last August.
Before then he founded Pro Series Events in T&T. This was the premier organiser for pro football experiences in the country, looking to develop the sport.
Decle also holds several licences and certifications, including his UEFA A and B Diplomas from the Irish Football Association, his TTFA B Licence and his FIFA Futsal Coaches Certificate.
The new technical director in the Virgin Islands told Football Careers, “I am delighted to accept the role as TD for the BVI FA. It’s a role that comes with a lot of responsibility having to oversee the football landscape in a country and I look forward to working across the territory to help the country fulfil its potential in all areas.”
The men’s side is currently ranked 207th in the world, and the women’s side is ranked 186th.
The men’s side advanced beyond the first round of FIFA World Cup qualifying for the first time in their history at the beginning of the qualification process for the 2026 edition in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
They were drawn into a group with Guatemala, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Dominica as a result of this.
