Pro League gi­ants W Con­nec­tion is any­thing but out with a clear chance of claim­ing the ti­tle this sea­son, in spite of claims by Cen­tral FC coach Stern John that the team is well on its way of do­ing so.

With six round of match­es to go, the Savonet­ta Boys, as they are now pop­u­lar­ly known, dropped two vi­tal points against third-place Po­lice FC in a heart-wrench­ing goal­less draw at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um in Cou­va on Tues­day night, im­pact­ing its sum­mit po­si­tion by one point.

The re­sult puts W Con­nec­tion on 28 points, af­ter 12 match­es and a size­able goal dif­fer­ence on its clos­est chal­lenger Cen­tral FC. How­ev­er, the men from cen­tral Trinidad have now nar­rowed the gap to five points, fol­low­ing their 2-2 tie with Club San­do in the first match of Tues­day's dou­ble­head­er at the Bal­main Cou­va venue.

The 'Cen­tral Sharks' opened the scor­ing in the 10th minute from Akim Arm­strong be­fore Jayson Joseph found the equal­iz­er in the 33rd. But T&T's 2006 World Cup cam­paign­er Den­sill Theobald, a scor­er of three goals in his team's last en­counter, was again on tar­get in the 39th minute to push the Sharks in front for the sec­ond time in the match.

The cel­e­bra­tion for Theobald's item last­ed 19 min­utes be­fore the south­ern­ers scored again from Ty­ronne Charles to en­sure a share of the points.

Cen­tral's re­sult has moved it to 23 points from 12 games be­fore the in­ter­na­tion­al FI­FA break. The Cen­tral men will re­sume their cam­paign af­ter the break with a mouth-wa­ter­ing top-of-the-ta­ble clash with W Con­nec­tion at a venue still to be de­cid­ed.

In an­oth­er game, third-place Po­lice will have a date with San Juan Jabloteh and fourth-place De­fence Force (20 points) will be up against North East Stars.

The Stars mean­while pulled off a rare 2-1 win over Jabloteh on Tues­day, cour­tesy of goals from Da­reem Daniel in the 63rd and Ko­rdell Samuel's 94th for the team's first vic­to­ry of the sea­son. Daniel and com­pa­ny have now moved to five points but still root­ed at the bot­tom of the stand­ings.
