T&T senior men's football team midfielder Jomal Wiliams scored his 12th goal of the season as CD Luis Angel Firpo returned to winning ways, 2-0 over FAS in the El Salvador Primera Division Apertura at Sergio Torres Rivera Stadium, Usulutan, El Salvador on Saturday night.
After a goalless first-half, Jefferson Polio opened the scoring for Luis Angel Firpo in the 56th minute before the 27-year-old Williams added the insurance item in the tight contest five minutes later.
With the strike, Williams is now one goal shy of the league’s leading scorer 35-year-old Colombian Duvier Riascos, who has 13 goals for Alianza.
The win kept Williams and Luis Angel Firpo in the fourth spot with 28 points from 18 matches, two adrift of FAS on the 12-team table while Alianza leads with 42, ten more than second-placed Aguila.
Next, up for Williams is a clash with his former club, Isidro Metapan, who occupy second from bottom of the standings with 12 points on November 14, and then three days later they meet Atletico Marte quickly followed by Santa Tecla (November 19) and Aguila on November 26.
