Bishop’s High School in Tobago got a double strike from Malik Wilson in a 4-1 victory over Goodwood Secondary School in the Championship Division of the Tiger Tanks Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) on Saturday at the Cyd Gray Stadium in Roxborough.

The game was the first of the season for a team that contested the 2018 top-flight Premiership Division before being demoted that same year. However, they again sent a strong signal of being the team to advance to the qualifying Big Five Play-Off at the end of the season.

Wilson’s double strike was complemented by equally valuable items from Kaieem Lewis and Giovanni Burke, which assured them maximum points and a perfect start to their campaign.

In the another contest in the sister-isle, Signal Hill and Roxborough Secondary shared points in a 1-1 tie.

In the South Zone, Siparia West Secondary continued their winning ways on Friday with a 3-2 triumph over Point Fortin Secondary, courtesy of a brace from Akel Vasprey and another from Isaiah Gittens that moved them to six points from two matches.

Last week, the Siparia lads had a feast at their home ground with Fyzabad Anglican Secondary, hammering them 10-0. However, Fyzabad which suffered a suspension by the school league for a range of issues back in 2017, rebounded on Friday by defeating Princes Town Secondary 6-3, a win that came courtesy of a beaver-trick (four) from Jahiem Millette and two other goals from Marcus Vanderpool and Keegan Harriman.

In the East Zone, Shane Burnette-Mattis converted from the penalty spot to hand the boys from up Calvary Hill (Holy Cross College) a 1-0 advantage in the 11th minute, before Harmonie Ottway curled the ball into the goal from a corner to increase his team’s lead to 2-0 in the 24th minute.

And before the teams left the pitch for the halftime break, Janari Holder-Villafana notched his team’s third in the 44th minute for a 3-2 triumph at home over Valencia Secondary.
