Continental Airlines is celebrating five years of service to T&T. In a statement on the occasion, the airline's regional Caribbean director, Rigoberto Alvarenga, said, "We are proud to be a part of the air transportation offering from Trinidad." "This anniversary is a proof of our commitment with the market, in which we are very pleased and will continue to proudly serve." Continental Airlines began its service to Trinidad in 2003 with flights from its East Coast hub in Newark Liberty International Airport. Houston flights were added in 2004.
The statement said the Caribbean is one of the most important regions in the Continental route network and Continental is the number two carrier in the Caribbean in terms of passengers and flights. The airline said the Trinidad market is key in the region. Continental flies the state-of-the-art Boeing 737 New Generation aircraft to and from Trinidad, offering first and economy class cabins with meals, electronic entertainment, and courteous, friendly service. Continental is the fifth largest airline in the world with more than 2,500 daily departures.
