Two weeks after Cunupia businessman Suvesh Ramnarine was bundled into a black SUV by men posing as police officers, he has been released safe and unharmed.
CNC3 News confirmed with senior police officials that the 33-year-old was released by his kidnappers around 1:30 am today in the Cunupia district.
Local residents assisted him and contacted the police.
Officers rushed to the location, collected Ramnarine, and found that he appeared unharmed.
They took him for medical attention before transporting him to the Cunupia Police Station.
Ramnarine had been liming at a bar on the Southern Main Road, Cunupia, on October 12 when gunmen dressed in police gear confronted him.
The men forced him out of the bar and into a black Hyundai Tucson.
Later, the kidnappers contacted his relatives, demanding a ransom of $3 million.
Police have not confirmed whether the ransom was paid.
