It wasn't so long ago when the birth of a child gave every parent joy. These days it seems that it has become a burden to many. For one reason or the other people give up their parental responsibility and transfer it to homes funded by the kindness of private citizens and the government.
One group–Cubs (Courage, Untouchable, Boldness, and Strength)–has taken up the challenge to fill the missing gap for children during the Christmas season. Since 1999, Cubs has held a party for less fortunate children on the first Sunday in December. Before 1999 the group was called the Spring Village Youth Association. Its name may have changed but the purpose of making children smile during the Christmas season remains the same.
The boys and girls came out on the morning of December 7 to the Spring Village Community Centre in Valsayn and had a fun time playing small goal football and many other games. The evening period saw them been treated to eats and drinks and showcasing their talents. Ring games, drawing, colouring, and face painting were also on the schedule.
