Cham­pi­on train­er Glenn Mendez has a two pronged at­tack in to­day's fea­ture Re­strict­ed Hand­i­cap over 1,200 me­tres on the main track at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. Mendez sad­dles Mu­sic Mae­stro and Cobalt Star and must fan­cy his chances of lift­ing the first prize cheque.

On his best form, the top-weight­ed sped­ster, Mu­sic Mae­stro would win this race do­ing hand­spring but he has not been a mod­el of con­sis­ten­cy re­cent­ly. How­ev­er, should he re­gain his form, he could win this. But my vote goes to sta­ble­mate Cobalt Star, which is re­gain­ing top form.

Last Mon­day he was scratched from an easy look­ing as­sign­ment and he should re­pay his train­er's kind­ness to­day. Cham­pi­on jock­ey, Ricky Jadoo has the leg up and will prove dif­fi­cult to peg back in the sev­en horse field. The one, which they will all have to fear, is the Ro­hit Dube trained mare, Miss Julie which car­ries the light im­post 47 ki­los. She will be part­nered by young Boodram­s­ingh and can­not be al­lowed an un­con­test­ed lead.

If Miss Julie gets clear she will not be caught. I ex­pect High Dol­lar Har­ry to be run­ning on at the end for the mi­nor end of the purse. Post time for the first event on Day 32 of the Ari­ma Race Club's eight-race pro­gramme is 1.15 pm.
