As we step into a new year, TrinidadWeddings is thrilled to unveil its top 10 wedding trends predicted to make waves in 2025! Couples are embracing creativity and personalization like never before.

Here are some of the trends that are poised to inspire “I do’s” in the year ahead:

Maximalist or minimalist decor?—The answer is both types will be popular. Couples who prefer a more modern approach will go for a look of understated luxury, for example, pleated linens and pearls. Couples seeking a bit more drama and flair, will opt for stripes, artistic ceiling treatments, vivid and structural floral design, lighting projection that maps onto walls and exaggerated canopies and drapery in their decor. Neon signs will continue to be on trend. In terms of seating, we may see unusual options - such as “caterpillar” tables and mixed seating.

“Go your own way!”—Couples will continue to push the envelope by changing up traditions and putting their own innovative spin. Some couples will forgo the bouquet toss or cake-cutting altogether and instead choose to spend pre-ceremony time together (think luxury picnic for two!) or even get ready together (good-bye superstition!). Couples may also choose to mingle with their guests during cocktail hour, do their own welcome toasts or opt to exchange private vows.

Bridal fashion—Pre-loved, archival or vintage gowns are in! The girly, playful “coquette trend” will be seen in design elements such as: pearls, rosettes, bows, corded laces and Chantilly lace. We will also see gowns featuring bubble hems, basque waists and statement sleeves. Mini dresses, blusher veils, chrome or silver accessories and convertible dresses will be popular this year.

Shape of Your Cake—Dome-shaped wedding cakes and heart, hexagon or triangle shaped layers will be popular this year. Cakes will be adorned with fresh fruit and lambeth icing. Couples who prefer something more unconventional, will opt for millefeuille cakes or tiramisu.

Colour—Pantone’s colour of the year for 2025 is “Mocha Mousse”—a cozy, light brown. Monochrome colour schemes and overly “matchy matchy” decor will be out. Other colours that will be on trend are: burnt sienna, maroon, plum, french blue, lavender, mint green, olive green, powder pink and sorbet hues.

Wedding Tech—Digital invitations will continue in popularity (where RSVPs can be tracked) and we will also see QR code enabled programmes and menus, digital guest books and digital seating charts.

Entertainment—Couples will look at avenues to create experiential moments for their guests, such as: bartenders who demonstrate how to make DIY cocktails, food truck dining, live painters, magicians, lawn games and more interactive photo booths.

Venues—There will be a move towards different types of venues such as private estates, villas and rooftops. Many couples will also opt for destination weddings.

Food—Fine dining trends will spill over into weddings, as couples seek to re-create their favourite restaurant experiences. Think gourmet salads, charcuterie cups or cones, a coffee or bubble tea bar, a grilling station or a build-your-own rice bowl option.

Photography—Film photography may make a comeback this year as couples seek a more nostalgic “look and feel” to their photos. The “cinematic” videography style (done as if you are watching a movie) will continue to be on trend. Some couples who prefer a more retro vibe, may even be interested in having parts of their wedding shot in Super 8 film, which results in muted, grainy footage.
