Presentation College will kick off its defence of the South Zone Secondary Schools Football League Coca-Cola Inter-Col title when it faces Fyzabad in the first match of a double-header today. The clash is at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 3pm. Presentation under the guidance of coach Sean Cooper has already dethroned Naparima as zonal league winner this season. However, Cooper and his squad is coming off a 2-0 loss to St Augustine Secondary in the national BG T&T "Big Five" final last Tuesday and will be eager to rebound against the zonal Senior Division winner.
Fyzabad replaced Pleasantville as winner of the Senior Division after the latter was disqualified for using an illegible player during the season. Two hours later, Princes Town and Shiva Boys meet in the other quarterfinal at the same venue. During the zonal league, Princes Town and Shiva split their results with the latter winning the first match 2-0 while Princes Town won the second round clash 1-0 which will set the stage for an interesting battle.
The winner of today's matches will meet in the second zonal semifinal on Thursday at the same venue while Siparia and Naparima, winner in their quarterfinal matches last Thursday, clash in the other. The Central Zone will also get going with a quarterfinal double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. In the first match from 3 pm, Marabella comes up against Senior Division champions Tabaquite, while Gasparillo clashes with Waterloo in the second match. In their two encounters so far this season, Gasparillo whipped Waterloo 3-1 while the other ended in a 1-1 draw.
