Over the last week or so, several people have called me to complain that when they tried to check their registration on the EBC's Web site (www.ebctt.com), it doesn't show up. In all cases, I was able to check their status on the site and assure them, within seconds, that it was in order. I am certain that many others are in the same situation so I offer the following for public information. All who called made the same mistake of entering "too much information," especially in the "Street" and "Town" fields. The problem is that if the information you enter does not match that on your EBC record exactly, your record will not be found.
Any misspelling or an extra punctuation mark will cause problems. For example, if your street address is stored on the EBC's records as "25 Sunset Drive" and you enter "25, Sunset Drive" (the quotes are not typed), your record won't be found because of the extra comma. Interestingly, if you enter "sunset" or "drive" or "sun" or "dri" or even "25," your record will be retrieved. That's because what you entered exactly matches some part of your address on record. Here is what I recommend (you can type everything in lowercase (common) letters):
1. In the "First Name" box, type the first few letters of your first name; it is not necessary to type the entire name.
2. In the "Last Name" box, type the first few letters of your surname; it is not necessary to type the entire name.
3. In the "Street" box, type a few letters of any one word of your street address. For example, if your street address is "36 Third Avenue," just type "thi" or "ave" (without the quotes). You can, of course, type "third" or "avenue" but that should not be necessary.
4. Do not type anything in the "Town" box.
There is an example on the site to remind you of what you may enter. I trust that some folks might find this information helpful.
