Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the People's National
Movement-run corporations tried to frustrate Government's Clean Up
and Beautify campaign by refusing to be part of the drive. This, she said, is evidence that the PNM will seek to hamper the progress of Government's work should the opposition party capture any corporations in tomorrow's Local Government elections.
Persad-Bissessar, speaking to supporters at Skinner's Park, San Fernando last evening, said when they engaged in the nationwide cleanup campaign the PNM controlled Corporations gave "resistance, resistance." She said while citizens heeded her call to clean their environment the Corporations did not clean drains nor did they collect garbage. "They could not separate party," she said.
Persad-Bissessar called on supporters to complete the PP's victory
by ensuring that the PNM is "swept" by the "tornado" of change. She said July 26 is not about "winning corporations but co-operation."
The Prime Minister said PNM leader Dr Keith Rowley has nothing
to offer the nation and should be rejected at the polls. Tomorrow marks two months since the PP's victory at the General Election polls.
