T&T top women's seed, Kerrie Sample reached the final of the women's singles in the 18th Senior Caribbean Squash Championships (CASA) in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday night. The twin-island's top seed faced off against the tournament's Number One seed Karean Meakins of Barbados last evening and up to press time no results were available. Sample, a CAC Games silver medalist in the mixed doubles event, claimed an upset win over second seed Cheri-Ann Parris of Barbados, in their semifinal clash.
This was the third meeting between the two players, who each had a win, but Sample went up in the head to head match-up after taking the match in three sets 11/9, 11/6, 11/9 to reach the final. Meakens advanced to the final after humbling, Amy Gillezeau, of T&T, in three sets 11/6, 11/5, 11/3. Sample, who has reached the final for the first time in the event, will be hoping to continue in the same vein and pull off yet another upset.
